Have you noticed ads embedded in your Instagram feed? Well… I got some some bad news for you Instagrammers. Expect even more ads in your feed starting September 30.
Instagram just announced that they will make it easy for advertisers to be next to your Instagram dipped photos.
As of September 30, they are introducing a “self-serve” option for any company in 30 countries around the world which was previously only available for a few big brands in America. I’ve seen brands like Walmart, Universal and McDonald’s to name a few in my feed.
Why? Since Facebook bought Instagram there is increased pressure from investors for them to start making money off Instagram.
With that being said Instagram has a large pool of data from its parent company, Facebook and is able to target ads to very specific audiences. What does this mean for advertisers? Advertisers will pay more for ads with increased targeting options. This means there is huge potential for Instagram advertisers to be successful.
Another big benefit for advertisers is posting links to outside content (links to website, blog, store, other social media channel etc) as well as five different “calls to action” which includes links to shop or install new apps.
